PALM BEACH ESTATE FIND!! Mihail Simeonov (1929-2009) mixed media work entitled “Steps To Happiness.” This is a collection of five unique original works, each measuring approximately 6” x 7” which were framed together vertically. Each piece is painted on thick paper and each is signed MIHAIL. They are framed simply and sandwiched in glass so one can see the backs as well as the fronts, which is interesting because the bottom piece depicting a ladder also has a face on the reverse. A bonus painting!! The overall framed measurements are 11” wide x 49” tall. Comes with its original Certificate of Authenticity dated from 1983, although I believe from my research that these were painted in the late 70s.
Simeonov is an interesting artist known for working in many mediums, including sculpture. These have a colorful naive quality, and remind me of the work of Appel or Picasso, vibrant and abstract but very Postmodern.
