This serigraph depicts the 1978 post-season game between the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and the Ohio State Buckeyes. This was the first and only game in which America's two legendary coaches, Paul "Bear" Bryant and Woody Hayes, would meet - as Hayes would retire during the next season.
Alabama was victorious by a score of 35-6, allowing only a single touchdown - giving the Crimson Tide it's claim to #1 in the Nation. Rick Rush chose to highlight the second down marker on the sideline because throughout the game, the Tide was able to convert their second down opportunities.
"I thought Rick did an excellent job with what he had to work with. He captured the dedication I thought our players showed in beating Ohio State. We plan to hang the picture in our trophy room, so that future generations of Alabama fans can walk down memory lane."
- Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, 1978
